A bright and spacious nursery or kids' playroom at Walnut Creek Downtown. Several toddlers and young children are playing with colorful blocks and toys on a large foam floor mat. A few adult volunteers are interspersed among the children, including a man sitting on the floor helping a toddler and a woman standing near a cubby storage unit. The room features industrial-style ceilings, a pink toy playhouse, and a large window that lets in natural light. In the foreground, a dark wood shelving unit contains pairs of children's shoes.
A group of young children sitting at small white tables in a classroom at Walnut Creek Downtown, coloring and working on crafts. A red-haired female volunteer sits at the back table, assisting a young boy. The children are focused on their coloring pages and yellow hand-shaped paper cutouts, with containers of crayons scattered across the tables. The room is bright with grey walls, blue plastic chairs, and a row of colorful pictures displayed along the top of the wall.
A high-energy game of dodgeball taking place in a gymnasium at Walnut Creek Downtown. A line of colorful rubber balls—orange, blue, and purple—sits along the center court line. In the center, a young boy in a striped jersey dives toward the balls with a big smile, while other children and teenagers rush forward from both sides to grab them. The background shows more participants in motion against white gym walls, capturing the excitement of a youth group activity.

Sunday Morning

The Kids Class Process

Joining us for the first time? Here’s what you can expect when participating in kids ministry at Walnut Creek Downtown.

  • Checking In

For the safety of your child and your own peace of mind, we use a child check-in system for our nursery and Kids Classes. When you arrive at the kids ministry area, you’ll begin by checking your children in at the kiosks. You'll find a friendly & helpful volunteer standing near the check-in stations to assist you if you have questions or if this is your first time. Our check-in system will print a name tag sticker for your child and you’ll receive a unique security label that you’ll use to pick up your child after the service has concluded.

  • Kids Class

We offer Kids Classes for children 3 years old through 3rd grade during each service. These classes provide a safe, fun, Christ-centered place for your child to learn and grow. Our preschool and elementary classes are led by a teacher and one or two assistant teachers who work together to teach kids the Bible through a curriculum called The Gospel Project, created by Lifeway.

  • Your Child's Experience

Throughout the morning, kids will engage in singing worship songs, doing a craft, hearing a Bible lesson, and enjoying snack time and free play. Each of these activities are opportunities by which our teachers are able to share the gospel with the little minds, hearts, and souls in their class. Curious about our policies? Check out our handbook!

  • Staying Connected

In the event a volunteer needs to get in touch with you during the service, your phone number is printed on your child’s name tags, enabling them to message you.
